Cornerstone Employers

Cornerstone Employers are a key pillar to the Greater Essex Careers Hub, providing the vital link to businesses and key local sectors. They work with the Careers Hub to support development of world class careers education in the local region.

There are four core elements to being a Cornerstone Employers:

  • Acting as an ambassador
  • Tackling disadvantage
  • Embedding careers education in their organisation
  • Driving better outcomes for young people

Cornerstone Employers have told us that by getting involved in their local community through this programme has made their recruitment more effective and their talent pipeline stronger. But more specifically, the programme can also help your business to:

  • Influence and inspire more young people to enter your industry, collaborate with like-minded businesses and have greater collective impact
  • Build a future diverse talent pipeline and help to fill skills gaps
  • Back social mobility in your local area by working with careers hubs to support those who face the most barriers to reach their potential when they leave education
  • Increase employee engagement, developing key skills and experience
“Morgan Sindall Construction are a Cornerstone employer as it helps us be part of the community that we work in, supports young people in gaining as much knowledge as possible to aid them in their career choices and supports us with our creating our talent pipeline.”

Helen Clements Social Value Manager

“Sometimes the worlds of education and business talk past each other. But when they come together with co-ordination and purpose, young people benefit in extraordinary ways. They gain vital skills and experiences, and deep insights into what comes next. There are wider benefits too. Schools and colleges get access to new thinking and partners for their careers’ programmes. Employers get a chance to support their future workforce.”

Oli De Botton, Chief Executive at the Careers & Enterprise Company
